The SAN Script – Tuesday, November 4

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Thanks to everyone for your support during Round Two. We are making progress. At the end of Round One we were in 50th place in our funding category. By the end of Round Two – with a big push the last day we made it to 29th.

Each round Aviva takes 15 projects out of the competition and puts them in the semi final round.

We will most likely qualify after the third round – as long as we stay higher than 14th place throughout the third round.

So, we all get a break until November 10th.

In the meantime, if there is anything I could be doing better or if there is anyone I should add to my list please let me know.

If we do make it to the semis, we will need to ramp it up big time as we will be competing against all the winners from Rounds One and Two.

So, no e-mails until Nov. 10th, please let me know what I could be doing better. We are very committed to winning this!

Prayer for the Day

We profess to be people of peace, Lord, but keep us from the temptation to proclaim peace when there is no peace. Show us today where peace is most needed in our community and in our world. Show us which of us must plant the seeds of peace, which of us must water them, and whic hof us must yet become gardeners of your peace. Amen.

In the Teacher’s Lounge: Using Edmodo to Teach Digital Literacy

From Baker’s BYOD

I had the pleasure on Tuesday last week to give a webinar on how I use Edmodo to teach my students digital literacy skills and help prepare them for digital assessments.  My students piloted the PARCC last Spring and it became clear that knowing how to effectively navigate through a website will impact student scores on the Common Core assessment.  Not only are my students being assessed on reading and writing literacy skills, but they are also being evaluated on understanding how to navigate and use a website.

Watch the webinar to see what I do and how I do it.

Here is a copy of my Google Slides so that you can access the resources linked in the presentation. There are lots of Easter eggs hidden in the slides, so use your digital literacy skills and explore!
