The SAN Script Wednesday, March 9
I truly believe that everything that we do and everyone that we meet is put in our path for a purpose. There are no accidents; we’re all teachers – if we’re willing to pay attention to the lessons we learn, trust our positive instincts and not be afraid to take risks or wait for some miracle to come knocking at our door.

- resetting student passwords – hope to have this ready by next week – please see note:
- Password management is an important element of Digital Citizenship. In an effort to support our teachers with managing their students’ passwords, Learning Technologies has created a new Student Password Change Tool for staff. This tool now allows any teacher or LC technician to reset a student’s password to a password of their choosing. The new password must have a minimum of 6 characters, and must include at least one number and at least one letter. There will no longer be a default password.
For k-3 accounts, this change should eliminate the captcha verification that have been prompting students to type in numbers and/or letters on an image when trying to login to Google accounts with very simple passwords like “1”. It is important for students to change their passwords to prevent hacking by other students and outside parties.
This tool resets both the student’s network password and their OCSB student Google account. We strongly recommend that students are assigned unique passwords, and it should be impressed upon students the importance of not sharing their account information with their peers. In elementary, we encourage teachers to be aware of their student passwords as well as sharing it with their parents. These are school accounts used for learning purposes, they are not intended to be used as personal accounts.
The tool is simple and quick to use and will prompt you for information as you proceed. Click here for step-by-step instructions on how to use the new Student Password Change Tool.
