The San Script – Tuesday, February 9

In this breathtaking photo by Andy Lee we get a taste of the incredible Patagonian landscape. The photo was recently posted to Behance in a series of digital and infrared images titled, Patagonia Dreaming. Be sure to check out the entire series of photos from Andy’s trip to Chile. One day I will make it to Patagonia…

voice of the day

Calvin says somewhere that each of us is an actor on a stage and God is the audience. That metaphor has always interested me, because it makes us artists of our behavior, and the reaction of God to us might be thought of as aesthetic rather than morally judgmental in the ordinary sense… I do like Calvin’s image, though, because it suggests how God might actually enjoy us.

Marilynne Robinson
prayer of the day

Creator God, you declare yourself to all through your creation, and we eagerly await the day when all creation is healed from its strife and decay, the day that you are most clearly declared.

Get Inspired By Everyday Teachers Doing Great Things

from Edutopia

Our good friends at SoulPancake (home of everyone’s favorite pint-sized inspirational speaker, Kid President) have just launched a video series that we absolutely love, profiling California teachers who are making a difference.

The video above feels particularly important at this time of year, as many people gear up to celebrate Thanksgiving and reflect on the things they are grateful for. It features teacher Whitney Cole, at Oak Ridge Elementary School in Sacramento, who finds that having her students keep daily gratitude journals has a ripple effect on their whole community. Get more tips for how to encourage gratitude in your classroom in this Edutopia piece by Owen M. Griffith, “Gratitude: A Powerful Tool for Your Classroom.”

Another video profiles Sadie Guthrie, a special education teacher at Lawton Alternative School in San Francisco, who teaches her students real-world skills — and brightens the mornings of the other teachers in the school — with a mobile coffee cart.
